THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUGARING AND WAXING
Sugar paste is made of sugar, water and lemon juice. Its all natural and can even be eaten, whereas wax contains chemicals, beeswax and/or resins.

Sugar is barely luke warm making it safe for all areas of the body. It's even safe for varicose and spider veins. Wax must be heated to a high temperature in order to become liquefied, which can result in burning and scarring. It can also cause swelling in the tissues which makes hair removal difficult. Long term use of wax can break down the underlying connecting tissues, especially in the lip and brow area, which are associated with wrinkling.

Sugar can be cleaned up from clothing and equipment with plain water. Since wax contains resins, a chemical solvent is required to remove it.

Sugar will not adhere to live skin cells. Live cells are wet and because sugar is water soluble, it will not adhere to the live skin cells. Sugar will extract the hair and exfoliate the dead skin cells, helping to free ingrown hairs. It's safe to sugar dry itch eczema and dry psoriasis.

Sugar is gentle enough to go over the same area several times when necessary to extract short and/or course hair without causing skin damage or irritation.

Wax can adhere to live skin cells, which makes it painful and irritating to the client. Wax cannot be applied to an area more than twice at most.

Sugar will wrap around the hair shaft making it pliable, while seeping below the mouth of the follicle and lubricating the hair to make extraction more complete and gentle.

The sugar is applied against the natural hair growth and extracted in the direction of natural growth which helps to keep the hair intact.

The client will feel little if any discomfort.

Wax hardens on the hair and has a tendency to break off at the surface rather than pull out.

With wax the hair is extracted against the natural hair growth causing discomfort to the client.

Waxing can leave up to 30% breakage behind.

The sugar is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. Sugar is a high concentration of sugar so bacteria cannot breed in the jar. Bacteria can very easily breed inside a jar of wax.

Sugar can extract hairs as short as 1/8 inch, or approximately 4 to 7 days of growth whereas wax requires at least two to three weeks growth.
